It's been business as usual around here. Joey continues to rally us all into loving life. We can use that, at times. That was never more true for me, than it was last Friday. My dad is beginning some treatment tomorrow for his own tumor. It is an all too familiar plan for our family, lately. We are becoming unwilling experts in this arena. Anyway, last Friday, I just wasn't satisfied with the pep talk I tried to give my dad. I feel somewhat helpless being so far away. I'm not always able to offer the needed support from such a remote location. So, I turned to my strength, Joey. I told him that he needed to help Grandpa. So, he picked up the phone and gave him the following advice: "All you need to do is hold REALLY still for your pictures. And, at my hospital, they have milk medicine that puts you to sleep. When you wake up, it's all done! And, the tube medicine--it's a piece of cake! So, be brave and I love you." I took the phone to hear my dad laughing. Joey accomplished what I could not...again. The weekend followed with a flury of activity. Saturday night, Jeff and I saw Hitch. It was really funny-a great escape. Sunday, I spent shopping with Gina. We were deep into negotiations on the Easter dress all day. She announced to me that she wished she was a boy so she'd never have to wear a dress again! Joy! Do you think she'll stick out in her basketball shorts on Easter Sunday? We did settle on an understated number. I'm hoping she actually wears it. My work week is almost over, and then we'll be ready to wear the green! I'm looking forward to a break for Easter week. I am off with the kids. I hope to plan some fun days out and about. We'll kick it off on Good Friday at the Blood Drive. Please check out this updated event on the site. State Farm is sponsoring another blood drive. We are in a blood emergency. Why not make it a really GOOD Friday and give life to someone like Joey? Please consider it. Without donors, I wouldn't have such great stories to tell. Love to all.
