How do you follow the last update? There's not much more to report this week. We just continue to pinch ourselves around here. Partly because we still marvel in the miracle that is our Joey and partly because we have once again had a few sleepless nights. It is the weekend, afterall, and Joey has another fever. This time, though, it is not such a mystery because Jeff also had the flu. So, I have two patients, one a little better than the other. You guess which one! Now, I wouldn't recommend this schedule on a regular basis, but an occasional 2 am popsicle with your four-year-old can lead to some very insightful conversations. It still strikes me funny in the moment, that I can be so happy about dealing with the flu. It is so curable! At one point last night, Joey asked me to rock him in the chair and sing You Are My Sunshine. I didn't mind being up at all for that. Pure Heaven! This past week has been filled with wonderful moments. Mother's Day was awesome, filled with homemade cards and bear hugs just as it should be. We had a cookout here with my Mom, Bob, and the DeLeones. It was a great day. The remainder of the week brought many chances to mother. Joey had fever up to Mother's Day, so we took him to the doctor on Monday. He checked out fine on Monday and again on Thursday when we had Gina there to recheck her ear infection. (Of course, Friday brought the flu.) Wednesday, Joey and I cheered Gina and Coach Jeff on to their first softball victory. The little Wolverines pulled out a win over the Lady Tigers. This hardly made up for last week's loss to the Little Buckeyes, but it was a win. And, yesterday, besides slinging toast and chicken soup all day, I had to take Gina to the dermatologist for a skin condition she picked up at swim class. Fabulous. CALGON, TAKE ME AWAY!!! We're hoping for a less eventful weekend now that the flu has calmed down. Tomorrow, we celebrate First Holy Communion with my nephew Nicholas. We're looking forward to another day of family and fun! Our continued thanks to all who continue to pray that our blessings continue.
