It is a great day for all of us. We took Joey in today for a check-up/admission for round #3 of chemo. And, although his counts were a little low to start the chemo-We are certainly feeling the power of prayer. We will go back in on Wednesday to hopefully admit him for round #3. First, we spoke to our doctor regarding his scan results. And, although she still could not give us percentages of improvement, we were very encouraged by what she could tell us. She said the tumor is definitely decreased. Also, the cancer which was so evident in his skull before is now difficult to make out on the scans. The marrow also shows improvement. She indicated that it is a two-part substance, solid and liquid. The solid shows cancer cells-but the ones that are evident are actually maturing. This is a good result as this means they are developing into benign cells rather than remaining immature and cancerous. The liquid had very obvious cancerous cells in the first study, and on last week's sample, it was difficult to see any cells. All of this is VERY encouraging to us. And, although we know the battle is far from over, today's news keeps us strong. Finally, we are so pumped to learn that we have been accepted into St. Jude's Medical Center, Memphis, TN for the stem cell harvest and transplant. Our health plan and oncologist worked together to make this happen. We are very confident that their combined efforts will get us to the ultimate goal of long-term remission and cure. But, we are most sure that all of the prayers of Joey's many supporters got us this far. We love and thank you all. Keep up the prayers because we know in our hearts that God is listening.
