I know you have all been eagerly awaiting the latest...sorry, it has taken me so long to get in here. Just a little busy this week. Anyway, we brought Joey home this evening. He did ok with this round. He had a little bout with constipation and nausea, but overall, he did fine. We were able to have some fun at the hospital today. Joey had a bird's eye view of three helicopters landing above his room on a new helipad at the hospital. He said,
"I bet Spidey is in one of those." It made his day when the flight nurse gave him a helicopter pin. He will be recovering now for 2 weeks, then scans, then Cincinatti. We spoke to Cincinnati today and it looks like we will be there the first week of August for orientation. Then, he will be evaluated. The transplant admission will most likely be around August 12th. Our biggest news is that he is swallowing pills. This is HUGE for us as we have struggled so much in the past with liquid meds. Sometimes, no less than 60 minutes of negotiation was required for a tsp. of med...only to gag it up at me instantly. I am so thankful he can swallow pills now. He is so excited that there are no more "squirts." I am looking forward to next week as well. I will be travelling for the weekend to Chicago for a national neuroblastoma conference. The agenda looks awesome. There will be speakers from the forefront hospitals, the FDA and also an adult neuroblastoma survivor. I hope to gain some insight and valuable treatment info. I know I'll gain some much needed adult time with my mom and sister (and cousin Kelly). Can't wait! Love to all of you. He is fine and progressing as he should. Thanks for all the prayers--they are working.
