Another late night update for our loyal public. The notes of encouragement and prayer are sustaining me at this point. Thanks just doesn't seem like enough. I admit to be a little tired today. Joey is as well. The chemo is starting to take a toll on him. Still, he is dealing with it. I asked him if he was tired tonight when he gave a great big yawn. He said, "I not tired, Mom. I just had a big day. I'm just stretching so I can have more fun! See?" Some fun-Joey! But, I guess Grandma Bonnie and I are doing our job if he feels that way. We are making fun a number one priority to pass the day. It can be tough to entertain him in such a small area. He continues to wonder when we are getting out of here. I don't have the heart to tell him not for at least 4 weeks. His spirits are surprisingly good. He is quite nauseated, though. The doctors are telling me the muscousitis will start in the next few days in monstrous porportions. I continue to struggle with his mouth care trying to hold it off. Tonight, we only negotiated the three 15 second swishes from 7:30 to 10:30. But, the good news is--all stayed down. He is not eating, otherwise. They have put him on nutrition by IV. An NG tube was discussed as an option, but I am relieved they agreed to use his established catheter for the time being. It may be an option in the future---but, not for today. Wednesday is the day we get those stem cells back! Then, we must all pray they engraft quickly before Joey contracts an infection or other more serious complications. The process can take 2-3 weeks. For today, we will enjoy another day with Bond. Tonight, he told one of the nurses that he was going to be "a doctor" while he winked at me. When she left, he said, "I told her that so she won't know I'm REALLY going to be an agent." Thank God for the imagination. We have Holy Water by the bedside that various people gave to us. Each night, we bless Joey. Last night, due to our fun evening of mouthcare, I did it after he was sleeping. He woke up and said, "Mommy, you forgot to bless me." So, tonight, I did it while he was awake and said, "God Bless Joey in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit." He said, "Mommy, you did it wrong, you are supposed to say God Bless Joey and give him 100 life!" Amen.
